Three things to check
- Read the temperature and humidity behind the extraction rating.
- Check the tank, drainage and placement requirements.
- Treat rated power as an input to an estimate, not a measured drying cost.
The litres-per-day number is only useful when you understand how it was measured.
1. Different technologies, different conditions
The Ausclimate Compact 12L compressor model rates extraction at 30°C and 80% relative humidity. The Ionmax ION610 desiccant model rates 6 L/day at 20°C and 60% humidity. These numbers are not like-for-like performance results.
2. Room, tank and drainage
Both suppliers publish room-size recommendations, but actual results depend on the room and conditions. Check tank capacity, drainage instructions and placement clearances in the manual.
3. Indoor laundry and running costs
Ionmax advertises indoor laundry drying, but this shortlist has no measured drying-time comparison. Rated power multiplied by your tariff and actual running time gives an estimate—not a guaranteed cost. Claims that a dehumidifier is always cheaper than a dryer need evidence for the particular setup.
A dehumidifier is not a substitute for investigating leaks or other sources of moisture.
